Here is how it’s made:

This grass is found in abundance in the forests of West Bengal. Sabai grass is a fine natural fibre that can be safely dyed. The craftsmen dye the Sabai strands with natural, vegetable dyes or Azo-free colours. These steps can take several days before the actual weaving starts. Skilled artisans work strands of varying lengths for weaving, interlocking each strand dexterously and hand-stitching parts that need further reinforcement. Every offering is unique and bears the artisanal stamp of exclusivity.
